Kirk Taylor joined Stobart Rail & Civils in the late 1990s as a plant operator. Building upon his twenty years’ experience, Kirk has led the business since 2009. In that time, he has personally overseen major developments and innovation in the company’s delivery capability. Highlights include developing the revolutionary ballast undercutters that have transformed opportunities to deliver the most cost effective track refurbishment during short railway possession times. In addition, played a crucial part in overseeing the development, construction and bringing into operation, London Southend Airport Railway Station. Kirk has a relentless drive for excellence and gives his clients the confidence that key projects will be delivered to the highest of standards. Kirk is responsible for the overall success of our projects by creating and embedding a culture of high performance, client satisfaction and continual improvement. He provides effective, focused leadership with a clear understanding of the civil engineering and rail industry.
Andy Richardson joined Stobart Rail & Civils in the late 1990’s as Operations Manager. Today, as Operations Director, Andy leads and manages the resource of the site delivery teams i.e.; site managers, operatives, track access and safety critical, to work collaboratively with the project manager and agents to identify and deliver high quality value engineered solutions for the client. Andy has a key responsibility for ensuring Stobart’s resources are at the forefront of the industry in respect of capability and capacity and drives innovation in the construction methodologies. As a recognised industry expert, Andy plays a key role in driving efficiency and quality in all that the business does for its clients. Andy is also responsible for risk management and mitigation, managing and maintaining Stobart Rail & Civils Plant Operating and Principal Contractors Licenses, ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO45001 integrated systems.
Paul Kershaw joined the business in April 2018 having spent six years at Colas Rail. Paul Originally qualified in practice and spent 10 years undertaking a series of assignments within practice whilst working for Deloitte and KMPG. Paul has significant sector experience including both financial and non financial roles within Rail and across a number of the different functions including Manufacturing, Major Projects, Design, Plant and Financial Services.
Alan is a Commercial Director with experience in managing and controlling the financial and contractual aspects of a wide range of construction and civil engineering projects with the key market Sectors of Rail, Energy, Water, Waste, Education, Residential procured through JCT, NEC, ICC, Network Rail and PfS. Alan has a strong track record in ensuring project targets are set, maintained and ultimately achieved with the ability to assimilate large amounts of complex data, assessing risks and gains against business criteria to generate decisive commercial results. Alan’s role involves driving the commercial performance, setting individual strategies, work winning, estimating interface when pricing and agreeing tenders with the Client, in addition to interfacing on all commercial issues and contractual obligations, implementation of Corporate Governance and ensure operational effectiveness with specific responsibilities related to financial, contractual and risk management for the Business Unit.
Stephen joined Stobart Rail & Civils in October 2018 having gained 19 years’ experience working with Network Rail, has delivered some of its key projects such as, Kings Cross re-modelling programme, Huddersfield to Bradford re-signalling, Thames Link resilience programme, LNE OHL resilience programme, S&C refurbishment programme, and Transpire diversionary resilience programme.
Stephen specialises in programme leadership and innovative management, which will be projected throughout his role within Stobart Rail & Civils as Regional Director. In addition to providing support to our team in Scotland, he will also be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the five-year plan throughout North and Central England.
Andy Lucas joined Stobart Rail & Civils in October 2018. Being a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, he brings an abundance of knowledge of the rail and civil engineering industry, having 20 years’ experience in asset management, track engineering, vehicle dynamics, design preparation and review. He has worked on schemes such as, KEB long timber renewals, Ferryhill S&C renewal, ECML linespeed improvements, the design, trial and introduction of track friction modification systems, Saltburn S&C re-modelling, Stockton cut renewal, Connington Headspan to portal conversions (first project of its kind), and NCL tunnel system cleaning project.
Andy presents a sense of strong leadership throughout the business with safety at the core of everything he delivers and shares the responsibility of delivering Stobart Rail & Civils five-year strategic plan for the whole of the UK and is open and enthusiastic about joining the team.
