The process of re-ballasting S&C using the ballast undercutting machines has reached its current efficiency limits and the speed of following the ballast undercutter using the current manual methods are limiting the output rates achieved.
Network Rail recognise the cost, time and risk implementations that are related to brickwork inspections and repairs. Within the industry there is a requirement to find a solution to cleaning the brickwork whether it be in tunnels or on platform walls taking into account the H&S risks, cost and output levels.
