Stobart Rail & Civils carry out removal and replacement of life-expired track on the UK rail network. In addition to this it is also carries out construction of slab track systems.
Bunchrew maintenance programme
Stobart Rail & Civils delivers a challenging heavy maintenance programme along a remote single line route without disrupting normal operations.
This project required more than one thousand new sixty-foot long rails. Traditionally, wagons would deliver these rails by road – needing more than one hundred journeys.
Lochluichart Track Washout
Stobart Rail & Civils were ready to assist with labour, an RRV, ballast boxes and trailers which were all supplied at short notice by the Plant Hire team in Carlisle.
Stobart Rail removed 90m of track to allow sufficient room for ballast ramps (15m) and working space for the hydraulic skidding system to push the bridge into its final position, where it will support the Lincoln to Spalding rail line.
During a 16 day blockade we removed the track, replaced 4,500 rivets with TCBs, removed and replaced 750 life expired deck timbers, waterproofed the new timber deck and reinstated the track on this 37 span viaduct in picturesque Hayle in Cornwall.
Stobart delivered five track lowering schemes totalling 5km of track and including 1.4km of new slab track, along with 3km of new drainage. We also replaced 125 existing IBJs to facilitate the change to a modular signalling system.
